Abstract:
Real gears are statically undetermined systems, and tooth root stress concentration depends of many parameters. Optimal gear form, relative to stress concentration, is one of the main goals of gears design. Stress state at the gear tooth root and its analysis is a contemporary topic of scientific investigations. Gear carrying capacity and stress state depend to a large extent on main gear profile configuration parameters, which made those as one of the key areas of interest for scientific analysis. Gear kinematics, carrying capacity, strength, production and some other characteristics, are being actively investigated, to support this analysis. Tooth root form and fillet radius have a great influence on gear tooth root strength and those are one of the primary subjects of this paper. Special attention is given to analysis on impact of gear tooth fillet radius, at the critical cross section, on stress value and distribution. This paper’s research topic is focused on finding the optimal fillet tooth root radius to minimize the tooth root stress intensity. The results are analyzed in order to form an effective numerical model for tooth root geometrical discontinuity phenomena at static loading. Although both mashed gear teeth critical stresses are analysed, this paper shall present only driven gear stress results.
