Abstract:
In order to ensure energy supply, measures of rational consumption of energy from conventional fuels are continuously introduced. At the same time, renewable energy sources are used more and more. One of the promising approaches is to use heat of sewage water from households. The average wasted warm water temperature such as found in restaurants, laundries, dormitories and etc. varies in the range of 20–40 °C throughout the whole year. Wastewater (sewage) is a source of energy which can be used for heating and cooling buildings by using heat pump technology. The technology is relatively simple and proven. Wastewater heat pumps attain high performance figures. In addition, such installations have an outstanding environmental performance. The main advantage of the usage of the waste-water heat pump is that design and operation conditions can be satisfied anywhere in the World. This paper gives detailed analysis of the system for the preparation sanitary hot water in the Student’s center “Nikola Tesla” in Banja Luka. The aim of this paper is to provide specific information about technology, economics and potential energy saving using the waste water heat sources by using heat pumps. The objectives behind are to develop the necessary steps to overcome existing barriers in the energy market, to disseminate the knowledge about wastewater heat utilization and to increase the use of wastewater heat in Bosnia and Herzegovina and region.
